FAQs

What kind of therapy do you practice?

While I work with adults of all ages, I specialize in working with high-achieving women. More specifically, I have a particular focus providing therapy for women of color who are excelling in their professional fields.

I treat people with all manner of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Like many therapists, I take an eclectic approach to my work. My foundations are in Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, ACT, IFS, and trauma-informed therapy.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching and therapy differ in three key ways:

1) Coaching is explicitly goal-oriented. When we begin, we will lay out your goals clearly and each session will be dedicated to progress towards that goal.

2) Coaching can be more time-limited. Effective therapy takes months and often years. Coaching can be effective in 3-6 sessions (though I recommend 12), due to the targeted nature of the work.

3) Coaching does not need to include an in-depth exploration of the origin of your difficulties. A core component of therapy is understanding the why behind your patterns. Coaching focuses on what’s ahead, and how to get you there.

Do you take my insurance?

I am an out of network provider, which means I do not take insurance. However, I utilize Thrizer to help my clients claim and receive out of network benefits with ease.

What can I expect in a consultation call?

A consultation call is 15 minutes long. It’s an opportunity to assess whether we will be a good fit in your therapy or coaching journey. The most meaningful driver of personal growth is the relationship between you and your therapist/coach!

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is about embracing process, not outcome. Some people get what they need in 6 months, others stay in therapy for many years. Regardless, I recommend weekly sessions for 3 months at a minimum.

How long are sessions?

Coaching and therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.

Do you offer biweekly sessions?

I strongly recommend starting your therapy journey with weekly sessions. I do offer biweekly sessions on a case by case basis.

If you opt for coaching, the cadence is less impactful, though I do recommend bi-weekly or weekly sessions to start.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Not at this time.
